Panantukan - Filipino 'Boxing'

Welcome to this page about the Filipino martial arts of Eskrima, Kali, and Arnis.

Panantukan

As whole the unarmed aspect of the Filipino martial arts are termed 'Pangamut' or empty hands. Panatukan refers to the striking or punching sub system of Pangamut. Sometimes known as 'Filipino Boxing', or 'Blade Boxing' as many of its unique techniques are derived from the knife. In addition to punching, Panantukan also utilises open hand strikes, elbows, forearm strikes and off balancing techniques. The use of the headbutt, groin strikes, and other techniques illegal in Western boxing led to the term 'Dirty Boxing' also being used.
